Storyboard is looking for an experienced Android Engineer to join our fully remote team and accelerate the development of our fast growing Android app.

At Storyboard, we are tackling the top challenges of the largest workforce in the US: people that drive for a living. We are on a mission to bring efficiency, collaboration, engagement and reduce distraction for drivers which is transforming day-to-day logistics workflows for many companies.

This workforce operates mostly on Android and we are pushing what devices can do natively to truly transform an industry that has been underserved by technology.

We are in the early days of this journey and our success in this mission resides in making an app that offers intuitive communication flows, tailored to the needs of driving teams: hands-free, audio-first and offline-first as well as AI powered interactions and knowledge building.

This is where you come in.

We are looking for an engineer to take ownership and drive the development of our Android app that includes advanced local processing for audio, real-time + async communications, interactions with many connected devices and more.

What you bring:

• 8+ years of experience in development, testing and operations of production-scale Android apps at mid-stage startups
• You think, decide and develop with results and customers in mind
• Expertise in Kotlin and processing media on Android
• Can drive modern devops practices within a small team for rapid and steady iteration with testing and CI/CD
• Can architect from the ground up with clean patterns and structure between performant UI state management and advanced background processing (eg: using hardware resources efficiently, running complex offline processes, event driven architecture…)
• Continuously drives technical and process improvements at team-level
• Know when to go fast vs when to invest in high quality

What you will do:

• Lead delivery efforts for rapid and steady execution on our Android roadmap
• Work directly with Product on establishing an ambitious and realistic roadmap that continuously delivers customer value
• Drive overall architecture with other engineers
• Set and raise development practices and operational maturity for the team
• Operate and support app in production, ensuring the best experience for our growing customer base
